WHAT IS QPR?

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. This evidence-based training course teaches you how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, offer hope to people in crisis, and get help to save a life.

According to the Surgeon General’s National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, a gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. Gatekeepers include parents, friends, neighbors and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.

QPR training takes just one hour and is taught in a format that is clear and concise. Gatekeepers are given information that is easy to understand and a QPR booklet and card complete with warning signs, methods to encourage a person to get help and a list of resources available in our community.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver save help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide crisis; question the individual’s desire or intent regarding suicide; persuade the person to seek and accept help; and refer the person to appropriate resources.

The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation will be offering Let's Taco 'Bout QPR once every month until the end of the year. So, if you can't make this one, please mark your calendars and register for one of the following dates: August 28, September 25, October 23, November 27 and December 18.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is available in front of and behind Ensemble Coworking.

What can I bring into the event?
No need to bring anything! We will provide you with a QPR booklet upon completion of the training.
